All-Star Games and Special Events

Some of the coolest baseballs you’ll ever see are minor league All-Star Game balls. Most MiLB leagues or host teams commissioned a unique baseball for the game from the early 1980s through the cancelled 2020 season. Some of these were readily available to the public, others were only sold on the day of the game if at all, so a few are quite rare.

Sadly, since the hostile takeover of MiLB by Major League Baseball, production of commemorative game balls for affiliated leagues and teams has ceased. Thankfully the independent leagues continue to use them.

This section also includes other special event balls such as ballpark openings and team inaugural seasons. This is not a comprehensive list of all commemoratives. The pictures are balls that are in my collection, and below those I have listed the confirmed commemoratives for that year that I haven’t acquired yet. A more complete list of confirmed minor league commemoratives can be found in my book, The Collector’s Guide to Minor League Baseballs.
